Light & Lemons

A still life exploring how light travels through  the translucent flesh of lemons, catches on their skin,  reflects off the porcelain bowl and dances across the sea, creating those little pockets of colour and shadow.

There's something about it that evokes the scent of coastal air - bright citrus mingling with the salt of the sea.

This was a chance for me to experiment with different techniques, approaches to painting and testing my abilities, all of which I thoroughly enjoyed! I spent longer on this painting than intended, getting lost in the details, I hope you agree it was worth it.

Acrylics painting on a deep edge canvas (approx. 20cm x 20cm x 3.8cm).

Painting fully wrapped around the edges.

Finished with satin UV varnish and ready to hang without a frame for a contemporary look.
